Keep Your Camera Ready On the Road

There are so many things to put on a must-bring list for a family road trip that sometimes one of the most important items gets left behind.  The camera should be placed right up there with clothing, toys for the children and even the map. It is also important to keep the camera ready even when you are still on the road.

Why is the camera so important to have at the ready?

The special moments that go along with most family vacations can crop up at the most unexpected of times. You never know when an impromptu spot will turn into an adventure worthy of recording. It is also possible that little things that happen on the road could make for excellent pictures. A row of sleeping kids in the backseat, for example, can make a wonderful shot for ending a trip photo scrapbook of the vacation.

To make sure your camera is always available when you need it the most, consider:

*       Stowing it in the glove box – This is a good place to keep it out of view, but always within reach. If you do leave the car and not want it with you, the camera will be out of sight and can even be locked up.

*       Bringing extra cards – If you use a digital camera be sure to bring an extra memory card or two. This can prevent you from running out of your brand of film. Should you actually use a film-based camera, be sure to pick up extra rolls before you leave.

*       Buying a carrying case – Do invest in a carrying case if you have not already. This can make toting the camera along a whole lot easier.

While a family vacation will still be a whole lot of fun if you forget the camera, this item can make remembering the memories a whole lot more enjoyable. Make sure it is on the top of your packing list.
