Places to Go on a Public Holiday

Every so often, a majority of the working nation downs tools and gets a day off work. It’s almost never the whole nation of course – or everything would stop and there would be chaos – but there is a holiday mood which strikes the nation on these days. To get the best out of the day, it is often fun to have a day out, with the whole family doing something they can all enjoy on one of the few weekdays they all get to themselves at the same time. Although there may be some resistance to the idea at first – from kids usually, who would sooner be playing video games – it is possible to make a day out work for all the family.

Often a family will share an interest pretty equally – there are geographical variations as to what this is – and will all appreciate a day out that is based around that. Although there may be some temptation to revert to old favorites like a trip to the zoo or the mall, it is advisable to change every once in a while. For one thing, the same trip taken on the same day every year can grow stale, and for another, a year is a long time for a child and their tastes can change in such a space of time. Convene the family a few days, even a week in advance and throw around some ideas. You may even like to compile a rotation for the year ahead.
