Surprise Little Travelers with Activity Packs
While mom and dad worry about making sure the car eats up the miles on a road trip, the little ones often find themselves trapped in the backseat for hours on end. Face it – travel by car just is not all it is cracked up to be for a child.
If you want to make sure the miles go by more quickly for children of just about any age, there is a secret weapon you can employ. Keeping them busy for hours is fairly easy if you create an activity bag filled with things for each child to do. Think of it as a present for them and yourself, too!
OK, so how do you create an activity bag and what should you put in one?
Start out by getting a reusable tote for each child. Canvas bags like the ones sold in grocery stores for a pittance are excellent for serving the purpose.
Now, once you have your bag or bags, fill them with such things as:
· Crayons and coloring books
· Snacks
· Puzzles
· Notebooks and pencils
· Comics
· Small, hand-held toys and games
· A special prize for each child.
As you pick out items for activity bags, do keep each child’s age in mind. What is great for a 10-year-old might not fly with a toddler. Be sure to offer up a fair amount of variety, as well. To keep your expenses low, visit a dollar store to loan up on affordable goodies.
