If you have not packed your children’s favorite blankets and travel pillows, you are not ready to go.

Yes, these items might seem like unnecessary luxuries at this point, but some 200 miles down the road, you will wish you had them along. When you make sure to bring along a favorite blanket and pillows, you will thank yourself later. These items can come in handy for:

·      Keeping the kids snuggly in the backseat – Summer vacations generally mean running the car AC at full blast. While this can feel great to you, your kids might balk. When they have a blanket to toss over themselves, cries of “Mom, I am freezing” will come to an end.

Sometimes the best thing for them is a little catnap to help the miles pass more quickly. When they have their favorite bedding along for the ride, they are apt to snuggle up and catch a few winks.

·      Making them more comfortable in strange places – Even if you plan on staying at the Ritz, strange beds in strange places can be rough on kids. If they have their own bedding, they are more apt to feel at home.
