Preserve Your Family Vacation Travel Memories
We all have countless memories of the vacations that we take with family. We take dozens of photographs only to come back home and stick them in a box, unfiled, uncategorized, and eventually forgotten. The years pass and the memories fade, we forget where we were at in that photo, and what we were laughing at, simply because we get so caught up with life that we don’t have the time to preserve the memories.
However, making sure your photographs are protected and preserved doesn’t have to be a time consuming project, in fact, you can make it a family activity and involve your children, adding to your vacation experience once you have unpacked and made it back home.
Scrapbooking doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor, in fact, the only thing you really need is an album and the rest can be done with your children’s art supplies or with inexpensive materials you can find at your local arts and craft store.
The trick is to plan for your scrapbooking while you are still on vacation. For instance, encourage your children to find memento’s of your travels. For instance, pick up a business card of a particularly fun or yummy restaurant, save a flower that you find while you are picnicking, or grab a brochure from a fun place you visited. All of these materials can be used as background or decoration while you create the pages of your scrapbook.
In addition, encourage your children to write down memories in a notebook as your trip progresses. If a picture happens to match a written memory, include that page with the picture so everyone will see the great keepsakes you brought home in addition to your actual souvenirs, in the form of the wonderful experiences you had as a family.
