Cruise Vacation Tips for Kids

Going on a cruise is a great way to entertain your children, spend time with your family, and control your budget.  After all, most traditional cruises are all inclusive, allowing you to have more fun, and worry less about a large bill for incidentals, food, and other items.  There are tips you want to remember if you are planning a cruise vacation.  If you follow these ideas, your trip is sure to be fun-filled and stress-free!

  • Plan your vacation with your kids:  Imagine this scenario and decide if you like it.  All control is taken away from you when you go on your vacation.  This is what it will feel like to your kids if you do not include them when planning.  Whether it is picking out the ports of call on the cruise or the shore excursions get them involved so it feels like a family vacation.
  • Prepare your kids on what to expect:  Prep your kids so there are no surprises.  Does your port of call include natives who speak another language?  Are their cultural rules that need to be followed?  If so, talk to your kids about what is expected of them and how they are to act.  This will ensure your trip goes tantrum and embarrassment free.
  • Schedule kid and adult activities:  Let’s face it; the whole trip can’t be about your children.  Therefore, find a supervised event they are interested in on the boat and do something with your spouse that is just for adults.  Get a couple’s massage, relax in the hot tub, have dinner together, or just relax.
  • Remember to act like a kid:  You are on vacation.  Live it up and don’t take yourself too seriously.
