Capture the Moment
One of the things that catch a child’s attention - almost as soon as they are capable of grasping simple concepts - is technology. There are few children who do not wonder, early on, how those people get inside the TV. This often leads to scary but retrospectively amusing incidents involving a child trying to open up the TV. Another piece of technology that fascinates children is the camera – disposable, digital or video.
Being able to point a camera, press a button, and capture forever a moment, a place or a person … when you were a child, was that not one of the most impressive things you ever did see? Unless your child is a miniature Bill Gates, they will be the same. When going on holiday, it is a good idea to get each of your kids a cheap, possibly disposable, camera. They will really enjoy taking pictures which they can look at for months after the holiday.
In addition to this you should always make sure to take photographs of your child at landmarks and in places they found enthralling. It allows them to keep a memory, frozen in time, that they can look at again and again, and starts a bank of memories that they will keep indefinitely. You cannot stop the passage of time, but you can keep a reminder for as long as you want.
