Keep a Scrapbook
When you are young, you do not realise the value of good memories because you have not yet built up a strong bank of fond recollections. You are more interested in the here and now than the things that happened last week or even yesterday. The unfortunate thing about this is that, as time goes on, you often need to be told about things that happened in the past, because at the time you were too busy making other memories to remember the old ones.
This is why a parent should help their child remember things such as a really good holiday, by taking pictures and logging them in a scrapbook or photo album. Little things like a trip to Disneyland where your child met Mickey Mouse, or a visit to an important landmark, can be kept forever in this way. In addition, you can retain little keepsakes such as bus tickets or restaurant menus. Little ephemera like these can allow a child to recall things that they did when they were very young indeed.
Now that digital cameras are both affordable and user-friendly, many people use these to compile online photo albums. Services like Flickr or Photobucket allow you to save these memories, print them off and even use them as the desktop image on your or your child’s PC – allowing them to remember their holiday every time they use the computer.
