Make a Little List
For most children, the hardest thing to learn is how to be organized. At that age, organisation is just something that holds you back from having fun. “Homework? I will do it later!” You know the drill. Keeping all of a child’s thoughts on one thing is like herding sheep. And trying to make them more focused is often pointless, not to mention a little bit self-defeating. Getting them too organized too young takes away a little of what makes them adorable.
Still, a little bit of organization can go a long way in some respects. When you are planning a holiday, there will be countless things that you need to take with you. And for your child, there will be countless things they want to bring with them. This will mean packing – and this is something that just about everyone, of any age, hates with a passion. It can be made a bit less irritating, though, by making and keeping lists.
Ask your child what they want to bring with them on holiday, and make a list of it. As they remember things – because this will happen at frequent intervals – add these to the list. When it comes to packing for the holiday, these lists will be indispensable. It will even help you if you pack a few days in advance – saving some things for the eve of the holiday of course, so that you are not digging through bags to find the game or book that your child MUST HAVE NOW!
