Keeping Infants Happy on a Family Road Trip
Traveling with kids can be a bit tricky, but it doesn’t take a master magician or a super parent to create a fun filled adventure for all ages. It does however; take more forethought in the planning stage than your typical vacation. Below are some sanity saving ideas for keeping the kids occupied during your next family road trip.
Infants can be a real pleasure on road trips if they’re the type to take several long naps throughout the day. Diapers mean you don’t have to stop as frequently. A cooler packed with prefilled baby bottles, baby food and a portable bottle warmer may be all you need to make it to grandma’s house in record time. On the other hand, if your infant is the type that detests being strapped in, and many do, then one parent may need to ride in back keeping the infant calm by reading books and singing songs. This works well in shifts – preferably before your brain turns to mush.
Pack:
1. Plenty of diapers, baby wipes, binkies, bottles, formula, baby food and a spoon.
2. Portable crib, which can double as a playpen if necessary.
3. Favorite blanket or snuggly to encourage naps and to calm fears.
4. Infant first aid for teething pain, fevers, stuffy noses, etc…
